MA in Governance and Development (MAGD)

The MA in Governance and Development (MAGD) programme, offered by the BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), Brac University is a nationally and internationally acclaimed program that has been meticulously designed for government and non-profit officials, researchers, development practitioners, fresh graduates, and young professionals who want to make public policy work for development. The MAGD consists of a total of 36 credits to be completed 3-5 semesters or within 12-20 calendar months.

MAGD will offer a unique blend of teaching by globally acclaimed academics and the insights of locally rooted practitioners to build a strong theoretical foundation on governance and development and the capabilities to successfully implement learned theories into practice. MAGD aims to enable policymakers and professionals to successfully address the 21st-century challenges and meaningfully contribute to their country's sustainable, inclusive development. 

The MAGD will be offered as a non-residential program. Generally, the classes are held from Saturday to Thursday, from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm.

Eligibility criteria: 

  • Employed by govt. (2 years of work experience) - government officials or in a profession that requires working with the government or in a profession that requires analyzing public policy or fresh graduates with a specific academic interest in public policy, governance, and development governance, and development - related areas
  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline from any UGC-approved university in Bangladesh or abroad
  • At least 2nd class/division or CGPA 2.5 out of 4.0
  • GED is not acceptable
